The Story

Before there were people, animals or even the earth itself, there was Someone who was the only one alive. He had all power, could do anything he wished and desired; and yet he was lonely. It was God. He had all this power, but he wanted someone to take care of; someone who admire him and love him. He knew everything; and yet and he wanted someone to talk to, someone with whom he could share all of the knowledge that he knew. He decided that he would make somebody that he could take care of and with whom he could relate.

He first made a place where this person could live. He made everything in it good, so that he and the one he would make could enjoy it. He made this world, not as we know it now, but perfect; with no thorns, weeds, decay or death. He made the atmosphere so that they could watch beautiful sunrises and sunsets; the oceans a crystal blue; and the forests a deep, rich green. The animals he made all kind and caring, none of them killed; all they ate was grass. All this he made so that they could enjoy it together; and so that the person could see how powerful and wonderful he was in making all of it.

After God had made this world, the planets and stars, and all of the animals; he then made the person who he had made all of this for. He created the first man with the dust from the ground, and ‘breathed in him life’. God called him Adam. He placed Adam in the middle of a garden he had made just for him, and told him that he was to take care of the garden and animals. It was an easy job, as there were no weeds to pull, no animals got sick and there were no bugs to bother one when working. It seemed a perfect situation, and yet, Adam was lonely during the day. God came down and walked and talked with him in the evening; but during the day Adam saw all the animals in pairs, and felt lonely. God saw this, and saw that it wasn’t good for Adam to be alone. He made Adam to fall into a deep sleep, and then took one of his ribs and made a woman out of the rib. He called her Eve, and when Adam woke up, he brought her to him. God told them ‘I have made the trees to grow fruit, and plants and vegetables for you to eat. Have children, and fill the earth with people.’ He also told them ‘You can eat from any tree in the garden, except from the one tree in the middle of the garden. I have called this tree ‘to know the difference between good and evil.’ If you eat the fruit of this tree, if you even touch the tree, you will die.’

To be continued.....
